Rate shown is for premium lakefront pull-through on a holiday week. This is the 8th year we have spent time at AIR. For us, it is complete relaxation and recharge time. The staff is accommodating and the owner "Doc" is frequently seen on the island insuring smooth operation. The constant breeze is refreshing and unusually cool (70) for a July week this year. The marina was busy with pleasure craft and fishermen the entire week. Our area was quiet without ATVs, motorcycles, and while the puppy population was high, they were well behaved. If you just want to read, watch the water, or sleep, try AIR. There are good restaurants in the area and Watertown is 20 minutes away with all things required.

I've come to realize that grass is a sparse commodity in the Rocky Mountain area, so learn to live with that fact that you will park in gravel/dirt. The management here was very pleasant and did not charge me for the missed first night due to car trouble. The spots are all back in but very wide. I could park the trailer, have room for a picnic table, and park the tow vehicle nest to that with comfortable space in between. Deer wander thru and it was quiet. Looking at the other campgrounds, I'll come back to this one.

This was an emergency stop due to car trouble. Very accommodating and helpful on the phone with locating a repair garage who handled my problem without charge - George's Repair. It is comfortable and appears to be used a lot as a stopover on I-70. The pool was inviting and rabbits came out to inspect visitors. Some highway noise but the A/C drowned that out.

If you need to pull in for a night, it's everything everyone has said below. If you have to use a back in site, they are short and your hook up is under the next guys awning. And the back in's are probably no more than 50-60 feet from active freight tracks. A port in a storm.

Very friendly management. Set in large ponderosa pines. All gravel as grass is non-existent. Very nice place, quiet, clean. No highway noise. 1 miles south of Colorado Springs, 33 miles from Royal Gorge.

One of the best planned and laid out campgrounds we have visited. WI-FI was strong and bathrooms extremely clean. Grounds maintained extremely well. Quiet and well spaced sites.

Our 5th year here for a week and we have reserved for next year. Quiet and relaxing as usual. We're out of the "kids" part of our life so all the points raised below may be valid - don't know. As to the "old buildings", they are part of the history of the island. The auditorium is particularly interesting because of the famous entertainers that came there in years past. Unfortunately it cannot be restored economically. From the number of units here and the number attending a motorhome rally, the island is becoming "discovered". As for the bugs 1) it's on the water 2) spring is when the "hatches" occur 3) you're "camping" - expect some bugs. We'll be back again and again.

Visited this park ten years ago; it was great then and is even better now. Great hosts, bathrooms superb. Quiet. A little off the path but well worth it. All back in sites.

Quiet campground, nice setting. Bathrooms clean and in good condition. Good alternative to the larger "resort" campground in the area. Pull thru sites for the parking "challenged". Bit pricey but not too bad. Will use it to tour Skyline Drive.

When you pull in there's a house to the left that says "Office"; it's a short walk away. Don't be put off by the condition of the back porch or the kitchen(it's the office folks). You'll sit at the kitchen table to complete your registration and be sent on your way. Very pleasant hostess. Sites are varied but large and fairly well separated. Bathrooms are clean. Sites in sun or trees available. Good stopover while traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Smaller park than some of the other commercial parks in Cherokee but if you need a base to tour, it's good. Bathrooms definitely need work, clean but in sad shape. CASH ONLY, no credit cards or checks. Nice staff, toured available sites before selection.
